Fishing Deer Lake

First and foremost, I am a Newfoundlander, and proud of it!

I was born on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland, Canada a few years ago in the town of Deer Lake.

Deer Lake is an airport town and is the hub of the west coast and the tourism industry.

It is here that I have lived and raised my family and have developed a deep desire for the wilderness and secluded fishing places that surrounds the town and which this site is all about. Me, My fishing trips and trip photos.

The town of Deer Lake is situated at the mouth of the Humber River where it enters the waters of Deer Lake from which the town derived its name. This lake is 30 miles long and approx. one mile wide in places. It is surrounded by majestic mountains which is the home of Moose, Caribou, Black Bear and small game. To those mountains I set my compass to fish the cool mountain streams for the runs of sea-trout and pond trout that are so plentiful, but can be elusive at times, and just to be with Nature.

A trip in the mountains with an old "black-ass kettle" and a fishin` rod can cure most any illness. Relieve the stress and you cure the problem.
